ASEAN Community

The National Library of Laos continues to build strategic relationships with the National Libraries in each of the ASEAN countries. The National Library of Laos is building a special ASEAN collection to reflect Laos’ close historic, cultural and economic ties with other countries in the ASEAN community. It is hoped that this special ASEAN Collection will provide different perspectives of the culture and history of other countries, fostering mutual understanding and respect.

EFA Japan

We, Empowerment For All – Japan (EFA-JAPAN) are a Japanese non-government organisation (NGO) that works to support library services in Laos. We have been cooperating with the National Library of Laos (NLL) and Lao Library Association (LLA) to establish libraries and reading corners in remote schools throughout Laos.

To date, EFA-JAPAN has established 49 libraries and reading corners in seven provinces of Laos. This initiative has provided the opportunity for children in remote areas to gain access to books and knowledge. In addition, EFA-JAPAN has been supporting the NLL and LLA with activities including training for librarian staff, a library information survey, publishing library magazines and attending international conferences.

EFA-Japan is proud to work with the dedicated and talented staff of the National Library of Laos and Lao Library Association to improve the quality of library services in Laos.
